A Call to Prayer by JC Ryle

J.C. Ryle (1816-1900) challenges us with one simple question: Do you pray? In his usual straightforward style, he then proceeds to give seven reasons why the answer you give is important. He concludes with encouragement for those who do not pray, those who desire salvation, and those who do pray.

If Ryle’s message was needed in his time, how much more so today. His soul-searching question will cause you to honestly consider your own prayer life. It may make you feel uncomfortable, but if you take up his challenge, you will receive great rewards.

“Men ought always to pray.” (Luke 18:1)
“I will that men pray everywhere.” (1 Timothy 2:1)
