The final flame within me died
and left me stumbling in the dark
until that stormy winter night
I came upon God’s ender mark.

Where His Holy kiss met filthy earth,
a rose bloomed with petals of flame
scented with frankincense and myrrh
Emmanuel; upon us God’s light came.
