In this work, Bartk skillfully adapts Romanian folk music collected in Transylvaniaevoking the sound of two bagpipes in the first movement and a fiddler accompanying a bear dance in the second. The Sonatina, lasting approximately three to four minutes, offers performers both a study in Bartks innovative compositional style and an opportunity to connect with the rich tradition of Eastern European folk music. The first edition of this work was published in 1919 by Rzsavlgyi, with its premiere in 1920 in Pozsony (Bratislava). This separate print is based on volume 38 of the Bartk Complete Critical Edition (published in 2019 by Henle Verlag, Munich, in collaboration with Editio Musica Budapest), and includes an informative preface in both Hungarian and English by Lszl Somfai, along with editorial remarks offering practical advice for performers.Hungarian (ttekints):A Bartk Bla: Szonatina(Urtext BB 69, 1915) egy bjos, pedaggiai cl zongoram, melyet Bartk a romn esztend-ben, 1915-ben komponlt.
