Church Matters, Vol. II: Church Planting

Church Matters: Church Planting

Product Overview: This edition of Church Matters, produced in partnership with the Pillar Church Planting Network and 20Schemes, provides a practical, biblically grounded guide to the mechanics of church planting. Countering the modern trend of treating church planting as an entrepreneurial business venture, this volume emphasizes the theological reality that church plants are fully functioning churches, and church planters are pastors subject to biblical qualifications. The journal offers instruction for both existing congregations and future planters on how to establish biblically ordered churches, operating on the principle that a sending church’s health directly dictates the trajectory of its plants.

Key Topics Covered in This Issue:

• The essential preparation phases of church planting, prioritizing patience, prayer, and preaching.

• Strategic guidance for congregations on sending out core members, elders, and future leaders.

• Practical instruction on the day-to-day work of planting, including personal evangelism, raising up leaders, and operating with limited financial resources.

• The necessity of transitioning from a “church plant” mindset to recognizing the new congregation as a mature, scripturally governed local church.

• Honest reflections and post-mortems from experienced planters, planters’ wives, and those who have navigated failed church plants.
