Saint Benedict

As a young man, Benedict fled Rome to become a monk. Many others followed him, and he developed the Rule of Saint Benedict to give them a balanced approach to a life of prayer and work. His holiness led to many miracles. One day, when a jealous man gave him poisoned bread, a raven flew away with the loaf! Saint Benedicts greatest contribution to history monastic life as we know it changed the world forever.Feast Day: July 11Patronage:Europe, Monks, Poison Victims, Students
