Saint Clare

Clare was encouraged by her dear friend, St. Francis of Assisi, toward a religious life of poverty and piety. In the year 1244, Emperor Frederick II attacked Clares convent walls. Clare held the Eucharist high and prayed. The soldiers miraculously fled! God allowed Clare, during a long illness, to see daily Mass projected on her wall so she could still participate. Today, the Poor Clares still follow their founders example of faith, simplicity and joy.Feast Day: August 11Patronage: Television, The Homebound Unable To Attend Mass
