Saint Joan of Arc

Born a peasant in eastern France, Joan of Arc heard God calling her to lead France to victory during the Hundred Years War. She refused an arranged marriage, cut her hair short, and communicated Gods message to the king. Under Joans leadership, the French gained many pivotal victories. When she was eventually captured, the English executed Joan for charges including witchcraft, wearing mens armor and claiming to speak to God.Feast Day: May 30Patronage: France, Soldiers, Women In The Military
