Saint Pius X

Born of humble origins, Saint Pius X strove to renew all things in Christ. He fought modernism and relativism; established the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD); and encouraged love for the Eucharist by lowering the age for First Communion. In 1910, Pius X opened the Vatican doors to victims of an earthquake. It was an unsurprising gesture from the pope who often invited guests to dine at the Vatican!Feast Day: August 21Patronage: Earthquake Relief, First Communion, Natural Disasters
